today = progress

I am so excited y'all. Today is a great day, a day that I was sure at other times would never come.

don't I look excited? lol
The last two weeks + weekends have been spent at the townhouse (where we'll be living after we move out of our house) while Dakota was away with his Dad and we didn't have to worry about rushing home to get him home from school. If you want to know exactly what we've been doing, well, these pictures will not capture it. Basically, this is the result of our efforts... the ability to have carpet put in (thank you Mama C) upstairs is basically miraculous and the result of packing and moving, packing and moving everything incrementally in the back of the Suburban and a small tow-along trailer. For two weeks. I did not take pictures of where we started on purpose. All I can tell you is that this is a miracle.

Now we are on the hunt for good deals on paint so that we can get started upstairs painting our bedrooms. Then we'll move on to fixing drywall, painting ceilings and the main living area, and trim, and hopefully be able to salvage that and put it back... sorry for the boringness of this post...

But in less than two weeks, our house is going to auction, unless the bank accepts the investor offer we got last week. My hunch is they won't. The deed in lieu was rejected, so we're just planning on being out ASAP. I am hoping for the weekend before Christmas so I can actually set up the Christmas tree this year. We normally do it the day after Thanksgiving.

So without further ado here are a few pics I took today, and hopefully we'll have some nice progress pics to share in the next few weeks.

the kitchen a couple weeks ago. still a staging area but all the cabinets are packed up.

the dining room - also a staging room right now - full of boxes all the time.

hasn't been painted in 33 years.
Hopefully I can get some good pictures of the carpet this week.

Much love and thanks for reading.

  1. I have heard good things about getting oops paints from hardware stores and you could try posting on freecycle!

    Lots of luck, I hope you are settled enough to put up a tree this year. <3

  3. I'm going to second the free cycle idea...even partial cans of neutral pant, mixed together would work (not terribly exciting, but a fresh canvas).
    Good luck to you!
