walkabout/weekend review (photo dump)

...man, it's just Monday and I am so tired... my kids kept me up for half the night last night... literally. I was wrestling with both of them in our bed, trying to get them settled and I ended up wide awake once they both fell asleep, Shiloh at the foot of the bed and Noah beside me. Tomorrow Shiloh goes to preschool in the morning, and I hope to get some rest tonight and take Noah in the backpack up the mountain in the morning.

Anyway, Friday was kind of a wash, though I did try to get the littles out and about - took them to Cheatham Hill at Kennesaw Mountain for a walk and a picnic. We didn't get too far before landing in a meadow to sit and eat. It was fun though, and Shiloh decided to stop her fit before we got too far into the trail, making the rest of the hike more memorable.

the Civil War "Dead Angle" battefield where mid battle they had to stop the fighting on both sides to gather the dead...
About the fighting here:
The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was fought between General William Sherman of the Union army and General Joseph Johnston of the Confederate army. Sherman's army greatly outnumbered Johnston's army; Sherman had 100,000 men while Johnston had 63,000. The plan was for the Union to break through the Confederate line at Cheatham Hill. Many soldiers were killed in battle there. A fire broke out during the attack and some Union soldiers were burned to death; an Arkansas colonel waved the white flag so that both sides would stop fighting and rescue the burning men. The next day, the Union thanked the Arkansas colonel with a gift of ivory-handled pistols. This ended the battle at Cheatham Hill, or Dead Angle, and the fighting moved on to Atlanta.

Saturday I took Noah to the urgent care to deal with his endless snotty nose and grumpiness. Add to it his eyes seemed weepy and in need of examination. Turned out he has a sinus infection and pink eye - both of which are being treated with antibiotics. Couldn't believe it - we were in and out of the urgent care in less than one hour!! Jason was away all day with the other younguns doing stuff to help his Mom. I had a pretty quiet day with Noah Bear all in all - it was good. :)

And we had dinner with some friends on Sunday night - so good to see them and celebrate their youngest son's birthday. :) It was a pretty good weekend I reckon.

Hope y'all had a good weekend. :o) Tomorrow is Tuesday, and I am hoping to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Sort of loving this springlike weather, though I know the hot and humid summers are around the corner... ugh.
