townhouse update

Hey friends.

First, a little shameless self-promotion:

1. Have you entered the Songbird Glory giveaway on my blog yet? It's my first! And sweet Jessica is giving away a beautiful feather hair clip and mum resin earrings! You want to win, or if you don't maybe you want to win it for someone!??
2. My BLACKFRIDAY code for 50% off is STILL ACTIVE in my vintage shop. I am trying to unload inventory before I move... so check it out! Have you seen the vintage swimwear and outerwear I'm carrying?

I wanted to give you an update on the progress we've been making at the town house and some other news about our house as well.

As many of you know, we've been facing foreclosure on our house. Fortunately, we learned late this evening through our immensely awesome realtor, Cara, that the bank has decided to postpone the foreclosure sale (previously scheduled for this coming Tuesday, December 6th) for thirty days, to give them time to consider the offer made by the investor on our house. This is great news as it still means we may be able to do a short sale versus lose the house to foreclosure. My credit is already shot to hell, but hey, I'd rather end it on a positive note.

In spite of this great news, nothing really changes for us... the plan right now is to move out the weekend before Christmas (Christmas? what's that?) provided everything is done at the town house - and right now, it looks like we're on track!! I gotta say I am kind of excited, well, a lot excited ... I started packing juuuuust a little this week... and bought paint for our bedroom. Thankfully between my Mom, my Dad and Mama C we were able to get enough cash together to buy the paint and paint supplies we needed. I am sooo thankful to our parents for their help. It means so much to have some sense of being able to have things the way you want them when you are forced to do things like forego shaving because you can't afford razors... ya know.

We are so blessed to be able to live in the town house (my mother in law's old place) and get on our feet... we don't have to pay any rent or mortgage... just the cost of utilities, HOA, etc, until we have stable income. We're so thankful.

Jason is actually crashing over at the town house tonight so he can get an early start in the morning on painting the ceilings. Then tomorrow afternoon I'm heading over sans kids to work on painting the upstairs bedrooms. The carpet is in too, BTW and it looks great.

So tired. I just love him.

Jason has been working (along with his BFF Sam) on the drywall situation most of the week. After thirty plus years of no paint and millions of curtain rods and nails the walls were in bad shape. There are holes in many of the walls. and cracks where the house has settled. The kitchen is altogether holey. The bathrooms and kitchen still need wallpaper removed and drywall mudding done. I don't necessarily need the bathrooms and kitchen painted before we can move in, though if we end up with time to do that, then we will. I wish I had taken before pics of the bathrooms.

the master.... really nice vaulted ceilings

my sweet man

The middle bedroom... thinking this will be Shiloh and Noah's room. One thing I love about this place is the light... lots of natural light. :)

The front bedroom.  Probably will be Dakota's room.
The plan now is paint as much as possible between now and Tuesday. Shiloh has her second surgery on her back (I'll post more about that later) on Wednesday morning and depending on how fast she bounces back will determine how fast I jump back into the game as far as painting is concerned. I will use next week to get started packing and hopefully will be able to have a garage sale next weekend... fingers crossed.

The kitchen, aka staging area for all tools at the moment...

This is the front room.dining room you walk into... Jason is papering the floor to get ready for ceiling paint.

master bedroom view down the hall.

Master bath... that linoleum has been covered by carpet for yeeeeaaars.

Hall bathroom. Still needs work. Notice tile around faucet in the tub. This linoleum was covered for years too.
Speaking of garage sales... I have never done one of them... anybody got any tips for me? Should I price everything or just put a general price on things like lamps, towels, clothes, etc? Any ideas for making it successful? I need to make some money... gotta get our truck fixed (our tag is like waaaay expired because the catalytic converter is blown) and I need to buy some stuff to replace furniture I'm selling...

That's all about the townhouse. I may squeak out another lonely post since I'm out of wine and my husband isn't here... :( Miss him. But then again, I think I might pass out... like, now... so....

Anyways, later!

Brooke
