mixing colors... |
Forgive me for lack of other interesting content... please stick with me... trust me I am so ready for this season to be over... I just want to get settled in so we can begin the next phase of our life and this housing crisis can be over.
Can I say I am just getting a bit excited about moving..? I discovered the neighborhood has a square foot/raised bed gardening site and is near one of my childhood outdoor playgrounds - Sope Creek. And Jason has been asked to run for the board for the HOA... and the kids are excited about the pool... so, you know, it's all good! Not to mention the endless stories about growing up here that I get to hear. :o)
But first - I want to say that my husband is amazing. He has been working a minimum of twelve hours a day this past week with no breaks (and even crashed at the town house overnight to be there early for the next morning) doing extensive drywall repairs and painting. At this moment he is running all around Atlanta, worn out, tired and hungry I am sure, delivering furniture so we can get money together to fix the 4Runner (tag expired in August... finally got pulled over... gotta fix it to get it to pass emissions... etc) and maximize his work days Monday and Tuesday before Shiloh's surgery on Wednesday. He is shouldering some hard stuff right now.
And Saturday night, I broke away from the kids (left them with Grandma, who blew up Noah's bottle and put his diaper on backwards... heee heee - love her tho) to go over and help him get started painting... He is so cute. :o) He was just jamming his music super loud and so upbeat, almost childlike, in his joy, getting stuff done, stinking to high heaven like a man who'd been working hard for days without a shower. We listened to Mumford and Sons and Finley Quaye (heavily rotated during our dating period) while I worked on Dakota's bedroom and he painted the ceilings. Thankfully he came home last night - we sat and drank whiskey and watched bits and pieces of a movie on TV that was unusually funny for some reason... it was so nice to have him back in our bed to snuggle with and stuff. :o)
There's one thing that's for sure and that is though we've been really stretched during this season, he and I have a resilience and deep affection for one another that seems to only intensify through our trials. I think this is when you know what you're made of. I was made to love this man and I wouldn't want to be on this journey with anyone else. He is the best and I pray God blesses him for all that he is doing now because even if there aren't dollar signs attached to it, what he's doing for us is priceless.
So, here's some good painting music... listen along while you look at our pictures :o)
This Finley Quaye tune is pretty much our song. :o)

Our room. A mustardy color. We bought this. Actually got it for $19 a gallon when it was $23 normally. |
Also... got this beeeeeaaautiful vintage quilt off Etsy for a mere $40!!! I couldn't find anything else like it for more than $75. This is for Shiloh and Noah's room.
And found this bed for $50 with the box spring - for Shiloh and Noah's room. Noah's crib is this sort of wood and is from the 70s, so I was looking for something similar.
And we sold this stuff this weekend (= $$$$):
bye bye couch. I loved you. |
bye bye armoire. loved you too. |
BTW - have you entered the giveaway yet? It ends Tuesday!!!
So tired... but waiting for my man to get home safely.
Goodnight friends.
Brooke

Bekah - yes, I am definitely more at peace these days... I am happy that we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. And I am not PMS anymore. So I feel human. That is one thing I did not miss while pregnant and nursing. DAMN HORMONES. And I love you too girl, my internet friend! Maybe one day, like Jason said, y'all can come hang with us in the ATL. xoxo
ReplyDeleteRhiannon - the quilt was from Keepsake Designs... I will add to the post so everyone can see. It truly is awesome. :)
