Interpretation of the above video: basically Shiloh is saying she is going to the doctor and going to take a nap and to get her birthmark "all gone" and then she can go swimming at Papaw's house! :o) That's what we've been saying to her. She talks much more clearly than this, it just sounds muffled because my phone sucks. :o)
My sweet little Shiloh was born with a congenital nevus on her back that is (or was) about 2.5" x 2.5" right smack dab in the middle of her upper back. The presence of this "birthmark" places her at a significantly higher risk for development of melanoma. There is also a rare condition called neurocutaneous melanosis with is associated with nevi, and is actually a rare and deadly cancer that usually develops early in life in kids born with these. Shiloh had an MRI back in July to rule out any presence of this condition in her nervous system. Thankfully, her nevus is not very deep. It is considered large though and we decided to go with the doctor's recommendation to have it removed to reduce her risk of melanoma later in life.
Her first surgery was on August 8th. She took it like a champ. Hardly complained of pain or discomfort at all... I am hoping for the same bounce back as last time and that this is the last surgery she needs.
We go in tomorrow morning at 7:15 AM (that means we leave here at 6:10 - lovely) and her surgery is at 8:45 AM.
If you pray, shoot one up for my girl. We'll keep you all posted.
Here are some pics from her last surgery...
this is after they gave her a narcotic... Jason had a video of it... it was fuuuuunnny! I'll get one tomorrow. |
