my shining star

I thought I should share with you all the photos from my son Dakota's graduation. He is now "officially" a sixth grader which is oh-so huge to him (wasn't it to all of us?). This year was odd for him... in the county we moved OUT of in December, they do an intermediate middle school where the 5th and 6th graders go. So, he kinda graduated already (somehow I don't remember the graduation!?). But when we moved into the county where he presently attends school, he went BACK to elementary school. Weird, huh. And it wasn't the best half of the year... sort of a mixed bag for 5th grade. However, he really did well academically.

I was more than surprised when I showed up and they started handing out awards... I mean, I know my kid is smart and stuff... but I didn't realize that he was going to be recognized so often.

He won THREE awards - two for having the HIGHEST number of points on the GCRCT in the ENTIRE 5th grade in Reading and Social Studies, and one for 3rd highest score in Language Arts! And add to that his As and only a couple of Bs all year... I was soo proud! He is one amazing young man.
