sope creek, 3/15/12

This place is FIVE minutes from my house... FIVE!! This is crazy because I grew up playing in this creek - Sope Creek... there is a rock slide that lets out into a good swimming "hole"... My mom used to bring a picnic and let me loose in the creek for hours on end. Endless, abundant, good memories. The trails have just been re-done and some rerouted to help minimize erosion. It's a beautiful place with almost 7 miles of trails to get lost on. Down by the river is a Civil War era paper mill in ruins as well which is very curious.

I spend a lot of time while hiking thinking and praying... this past week was for my step-mom - we had a bit of a cancer scare with her and I am grateful to report that all is well and there is no need to worry.

Here are some photos from my hike:

Just a little somethin-somethin for today... hoping to get back out on the trails tomorrow.

  1. I love rock slides! These pictures are making me long for a chance to go hiking. I used to live on a lot of land and walked almost every day. I also did a lot of thinking/praying out there.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Rebecca - too many days without a walk in the woods, I find myself feeling depressed. It really does so much for my head. I wish I had a lot of land to live on and work on!
