Yesterday I harvested my first vegetables from my square foot garden... radishes! They are a bit puny but delicious! We ate them all already. Truth be told I probably could have left them in the ground a bit longer. They weren't very spicy.
I planted some from seed and some I sprouted before I planted them in the ground. The ones I grew from seed are much bigger and don't have the long sinewy "tail" on them. Lesson learned - don't plant too many seeds in one hole because if they all try to grow you'll get puny plants. At least that's what I read, and what became of my radishes.
The garden is doing so well.
I also picked up a box from the Carlton's CSA fall crop. There was bok choy, collards, and two lettuces, along with purple peppers, an acorn squash and some apples.
Tonight the Rodgers are coming over and I am roasting the acorn squash for us to eat. More on that later...
